PILLOWS!

So just a quick update.
While looking through more stuff today, i came across these pillows.
They're all basically portland bridges and the "aerial tram".
While they are rather on the "pricey" side ($40 for a 12"x12" pillow) for what seems like awesome craftsmanship. its tempting to buy a few of them.. that being said if their website was not down for updates!

Waterfronts

GOOD MORNING CINCINNATI!

So one thing i started realizing the other day. I'm very unsure why it took so long for the conclusion of this to take place... however it makes sense in some weird fashion.. the bridges that are on the waterfront of Cincinnati/Covington (Kentucky) are setup very close to how they are back in Portland, Not crossing state lines back over there. However just one side of Portland to another. Anyways... back to my original point!
So take the bridges in Portland for a quick example.
The Fremont bridge (big white one at the end of the main strip of bridges). Structurally very tall, quite long and has a large arch that surrounds it.
And here in the 'Natti. We have the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge. Not overly long, Not very tall, However it almost looks exactly like the Fremont bridge structurally, Just "Doubled". Now what do we have here?! did the fremont bridge get painted yellow? hrm.. interesting!
Now lets take a look at some other bridges we have laying around here in portland/cincinnati...
Portland -
We have this bridge. The st johns bridge out in N Portland (way past the Fremont bridge). Quite another lovely example of an older portland bridge! Tall, Structurally very stunning, one of those bridges you could take a look at and notice something completely new about it.
Cincinnati-
Not a copy by any means, but it looks to the point where one of them was trying to "grab" some ideas for the bridges, only really huge difference? St johns bridge is made of steel/iron. The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge was made a brick and concrete (and in my opinion does not look like it belongs in the USA).
And over in portland. There are numerous bridges of all shapes, sizes. Most of them being suspension type bridges (they are fairly low, and the Willamette river has heavy water traffic)
One thing that has surprised me in cincinnati that portland has not done yet, and as far to my knowledge has not planned or tried to attempt just yet. It is a human traffic bridge only.
Newport South-bank Bridge.
It is used specifically for personal traffic. all walking/bicycling/running/jogging etc. Traffic.
So in my findings so far on how to compare my two "hometowns". i'm starting to come across quite a few things. While they are not by any means "normal" things, stuff is hitting me a bit that both these places have their own flair that is enjoyable with most means possible.
So in this strange entry, And it's closing. No matter how missful i do become of my old hometown and no matter how much at times i do dislike the whole feeling of this new town. There are comparable things that are helping me cope a bit being this far away from "home".

Whats your favorite thing about your current town?

This exact statement has been brewing in my head for months now. Ever since i put my transfer request in to move all the way to the other side of the country. At first it was all brand new, exciting and fun adventures. Like a new book in a library with a lonely Character in a novel in his own adventure land. Finding these things in my surroundings that will be entertaining and fulfilling were easy at first. However after the first few times of going on these "adventures". They did lose their flair fairly fast! Be it because most of those new-comings were food places that my taste buds had yet to experience. FOR example

Hardees (carls jr in disguise!)

There are a few however i have not tried yet. Which i will wait on because i'm running out of places and do not wish to run out of ideas too quickly.
However other then food (mostly fast food type joints) There is not a whole lot to do; Especially in the winter time. Theme parks close (can't see this being a fun time riding around past 60-70mph on a roller coaster when it's below 30*) BBQ's can't be performed fun and easy because of the literally freezing temperatures that plummet after September. Hiking and camping are very much not going to happen; Comfortably at least! No Kayaking, Canoeing, All done for! This leaves room for more food joints, Maybe some clubs, Live music, Scenic drives (that being said, if it does not ice over which happens frequently) which aren't always fun around here.. it's relatively flat with almost nothing but farm land once you get outside of the city limits.
However, to answer my original question of "whats your favorite thing about your current city?". I will give 2 answers! Summer and winter.

Summer/Autumn : I've always been very much into photography through my youth and very much now a days. it's still a great passion that i have in my life. And even thought i only have a lowly PnS (point and shoot) camera, it still does it's job decently and gracefully. Photography is especially great around the mid-west and the east coast areas because of the gorgeous autumn times going right into fall. Everything turns dark hues of brandy and burgundy with a touch of bright orange. Reminds me of a sunset over the pacific in the great pacific northwest coast line after a huge storm clears up most of the way, but there is still a good amount of clouds in the sky to catch all the hues.
to show the comparison
Pacific sunsets

Midwest type autumn.

Spring/Summer : This one indefinitely is harder to give a straight forward answer to. For the reason being i had just moved here in the spring. Never really had enough of a chance or excess time to really open my eyes to what is considered fun within this realm of my new city. However some of the "adventures" i did throw myself in revolved somewhat around what i enjoy so much about Autumn/Winter. As the colors are not as great during that time frame, It is a great time to go a little bit outside of the city and walk around on the trails to see the wildlife, the scenery. Breathe in the fresh air. Blowing across the sweet scent of the flowers and the trees surrounding you. With that light breeze mixed with the warmer weather and the shade, It is a wonderful time to be had!
One thing i would like to Experience over here is more of the outdoors. more kayaking, canoeing, Camping, fishing etc. I Have a feeling they will be overwhelmingly amazing, Especially if mixed and meshed with the correct set of people. I Think this may be tempting to plan over the summer of this year! so stay tuned! :)
