Waterfronts

GOOD MORNING CINCINNATI!

So one thing i started realizing the other day. I'm very unsure why it took so long for the conclusion of this to take place... however it makes sense in some weird fashion.. the bridges that are on the waterfront of Cincinnati/Covington (Kentucky) are setup very close to how they are back in Portland, Not crossing state lines back over there. However just one side of Portland to another. Anyways... back to my original point!
So take the bridges in Portland for a quick example.
The Fremont bridge (big white one at the end of the main strip of bridges). Structurally very tall, quite long and has a large arch that surrounds it.
And here in the 'Natti. We have the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge. Not overly long, Not very tall, However it almost looks exactly like the Fremont bridge structurally, Just "Doubled". Now what do we have here?! did the fremont bridge get painted yellow? hrm.. interesting!
Now lets take a look at some other bridges we have laying around here in portland/cincinnati...
Portland -
We have this bridge. The st johns bridge out in N Portland (way past the Fremont bridge). Quite another lovely example of an older portland bridge! Tall, Structurally very stunning, one of those bridges you could take a look at and notice something completely new about it.
Cincinnati-
Not a copy by any means, but it looks to the point where one of them was trying to "grab" some ideas for the bridges, only really huge difference? St johns bridge is made of steel/iron. The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge was made a brick and concrete (and in my opinion does not look like it belongs in the USA).
And over in portland. There are numerous bridges of all shapes, sizes. Most of them being suspension type bridges (they are fairly low, and the Willamette river has heavy water traffic)
One thing that has surprised me in cincinnati that portland has not done yet, and as far to my knowledge has not planned or tried to attempt just yet. It is a human traffic bridge only.
Newport South-bank Bridge.
It is used specifically for personal traffic. all walking/bicycling/running/jogging etc. Traffic.
So in my findings so far on how to compare my two "hometowns". i'm starting to come across quite a few things. While they are not by any means "normal" things, stuff is hitting me a bit that both these places have their own flair that is enjoyable with most means possible.
So in this strange entry, And it's closing. No matter how missful i do become of my old hometown and no matter how much at times i do dislike the whole feeling of this new town. There are comparable things that are helping me cope a bit being this far away from "home".

Portland.
